Weekly Update 10/27

Hello all! I am so happy to be feeling better and can't wait for this fun 4 day week!

Book Fair is open this whole week! Also, we made a class wish list and saved some books at the book fair so if you want to donate any to our classroom, we would love that! 

Monday- A day, Red Ribbon Week, and Conferences

Tuesday- B day
*Put a Cap on Drugs- Hat Day*
Wednesday- C day and Conferences
*Turn your Back on Drugs- wear your shirt backwards*
Thursday- D day and Halloween Parties
*Sock it to Drugs- wear silly socks*
Friday- NO SCHOOL!! Happy Halloween!

Keep sending in your All for Books donations. The. Lass with the most money collected will win $100 to the book fair! Last day is Monday!!

Thursday Updates- Parade starts at 1:45. Parents may start setting up during the parade. Party will start at 2:00. 
I cannot wait to see all of the amazing hard work you all have done for our classroom party! I know it'll be amazing! 
Also, please make sure your student brings their costume in an extra bag to put on over their clothes. We will not have a whole lot of time to change and get into our costume prior to the parade. Students going on the bus will then change out of their costumes. 

Weekly Update 10/20

Good afternoon. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Monday- D day and Book Fair Preview
Tuesday- A day ( I will be out in the afternoon for Math Development)
Wednesday- B day
Thursday- C day and Challenge Course!
Friday- D day 

Writing- We are working on learning different techniques about Informational stories.

Math- We are practicing using the number line to add and subtract.

Social Studies- We are continuing to learn about Good Citizens.

Sight Words- Everyone should have went home with a yellow sheet with our full list of sight words to review. On Friday, I will give another test over some of the high frequency words. I am noticing that at times, our sight word knowledge isn't transferring over to our writing so my goal is to tackle these words and see how we do on our review test. 

Reminders:
-Field Trip form and money due as soon as you can- field trip will be on Nov. 7
-Book Fair- Oct. 20-29
-Trunk or treat- Sunday, Oct. 26
-Conferences- Oct. 27 and Oct. 29- If you have not done so already, please sign up for a time.
-Halloween party- Oct. 30
- NO SCHOOL Oct. 31!

Weekly Update 10/13

Good morning!! I went to the Cardinals game last night and it was AMAZING! Go Cards! 


Monday- D day and Library
Tuesday- A day
Wednesday- B day
Thursday- C day
Friday- D day, last sight word test, HALF DAY dismissal at 11:50- bring $1.00 for Ice Cream, and the end of First Quarter. 


Writing- We are starting our Informational Writing Unit. The student's Small Moment work will go home with you all at conferences. I will be grading and looking over them in the meantime. 

Spelling- Sight word list 8 should have came home on Friday. Please let me know if you did not receive this and I would be happy to send you home another copy.

Math- We are completing our chapter over subtraction this week and will test on Wednesday. 
Science- We will be testing this week over Inquiry.

Grammar- A few rules in writing that we are really trying to tackle this week is to always capital the first letter in a sentence, spacing, and punctuation at the end of the sentence. 
Don't let our punctuation take a vacation!

This is a wonderful app that we like to use to create math problems. It is so neat to listen to the students thought process as they are working through their math problems! Check this blog post frequently to see if your child's lesson is posted. I will try to post a few a week!

Writing Celebration!

Thank you so much for all the families who came to hear our stories. The students talked about it all day! I am so proud of all the writers and how hard they all have worked! Keep up the great work!
